ROCKHAM — Larry L. Becker Sr., 62, of Rockham, died of cancer Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls.
He was cremated, and a memorial graveside service with military rites will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Rockham Cemetery. The Rev.Tim Fugman will officiate. A time for fellowship and refreshments will follow at the Rockham Community Hall.
Larry L. Becker was born on May 31, 1951, to Marvin and Marion (Davis) Becker in Miller. He graduated from high school in Faulkton in 1969. He served in the Army and was stationed in both Germany and Vietnam. He then became a member of the South Dakota Army National Guard. He retired in 1994 as a Staff Sergeant. He was employed by the South Dakota Department of Transportation as a highway maintenance worker. He later worked as a truck driver with his brother, Calvin, in Nebraska. He was employed at Rude Transportation as a truck driver. He worked at Rockham Feed and Seed tracking inventory and assisting customers as well.
He was a life member of the John J. Tomson American Legion Post #57 in Rockham.
He enjoyed watching Westerns and Sunday football.
He is survived by his children, Clifford (Lana) Becker of Fischers, Ind.; Nicholette (Brandon) Marx, of Parker, Colo.; two brothers and two sisters, Calvin (Joni) Becker of Monroe, Neb.; Michael (Deb) Becker of Groton; Barbara (Eros) Williams and Valerie (Darrel) Bleeker, both of Sioux Falls; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry L. Becker Jr.; two cousins and several aunts and uncles.
