HURON ó Due to the extreme cold weather, the Polar Plunge has been moved to Saturday, March 8, 2014.
The Special Olympics office has determined that it would be too dangerous for the participants to take part in the event this Saturday.
They hope that the conditions will be better on the March 8.
Registration will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Big Dís located just east of the lake on Jersey Avenue.
The start time for plunging into Ravine Lake will be 1 p.m.
They wish also to apologize for the inconvenience that the change in date may have caused any of the participants, sponsors and spectators. Again, the conditions will just be too dangerous.
The team is quickly working to get everything in place for this date and time. They also want to give a special thank you to those who are donating time and resources, such as Big Dís, the Huron Fire Department, the Huron Police Department, The Huron Dive Team and The National Guard, for accommodating this change.
The event organizers ask participants to please continue to raise money for this exciting and wonderful cause, that helps so very many children in the immediate Huron area. The goal this year is $20,000.
