After having read a book about a fifth grade girl with cerebral palsy called “Out of My Mind,” the fifth- and sixth-graders at Holy Trinity Catholic School invited Blaine Liebnow from The Center For Independence to visit their classroom.

Liebnow, who also has cerebral palsy, uses a wheelchair to help him get around. He explained how people with disabilities use many different adaptive devices to assist with daily activities. When asked what he would like kids to know about people with disabilities, he said that they have the same dreams and desires as everyone else.

Liebnow will also be performing with other actors from CFI and the community in “Different Dreams” to be held on March 28-29 at the Fine Arts Center. Shows will be at 7 p.m. March 28, and at 2 and 7 p.m. on March 29.

“Different Dreams” explores several complex lives, revealing that what our parents, our mentors and what we dream of are often very different than the reality we experience.

Tickets are available at Slumberland Furniture or Center for Independence, 258 Third St. S.W.
