DE SMET — Patricia Halliday, 84, of De Smet, died May 30, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Arlington. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in De Smet. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in De Smet.
Patricia Ann (Wilkins) Halliday was born in De Smet on May 5, 1930, to Emma (Cavanaugh) Wilkins and John E. Wilkins. She graduated from De Smet High School in 1948. She later graduated from South Dakota State University in 1951.
She married Cecil G. Halliday on May 10, 1952. She was a school librarian at Franklin, Minn., Cyrus, Minn. and taught high school English in Hancock, Minn. and Morris, Minn.
She enjoyed reading and creating ceramic and porcelain dolls. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a religious education teacher and choir member at Assumption parish in Morris, Minn. and at Saint Thomas in De Smet.
She is survived by her three children, Mark Halliday of Pierre, Mary (Martin) Farrell of Rapid City and Kathy (Barry) Ostrander of De Smet; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, John Ray Halliday, in 1954; and her husband, Cecil Halliday, on Aug. 9, 1981.
