Farm Bill meetings are being hosted by the South Dakota Farmers Union in 13 communities during the next month, with three of them in the Huron area.
The meetings will focus on the two commodity programs, Price Loss Coverage, and Agricultural Risk Coverage, which are included in the 2014 bill.
A meeting will be held at the Crossroads on Thursday beginning at 2 p.m.
The Redfield meeting will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 21 at the fairgrounds, and the De Smet meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at the De Smet Super Deluxe Inn.
“The U.S. Department of Agriculture continues to press on with finalizing the procedures for the new commodity programs under the 2014 Farm Bill, and we want to ensure South Dakota’s farmers and ranchers have the information they need,” said Karla Hofhenke, SDFU executive director.
The meetings are being conducted in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency.
No registration is necessary and the meetings are free. For more information, contact Hofhenke at 352-6761 ext. 114 or Khofhenke@sdfu.org.
Other meetings will be in Ipswich, Burke, Worthing, Sisseton, Oacoma, Parkston, Webster, Flandreau, Aberdeen and Watertown.
