HURON — The WISSOTA 100, which is the premier event for the WISSOTA racing, will be returning to Dakota State Fair Speedway in 2015.
The WISSOTA Promotors Associatioin announced Tuesday that the event will be returning to the Huron oval for a sixth consecutive year.
“DSFS has done an outstanding job in hosting the WISSOTA 100 for several years and we have been very happy with the facility, the community, the fans and the overall success of the event,” said Terry Voeltz, who is the executive director for WISSOTA.
Each year the event is available for all the WISSOTA-sanctioned tracks to put in a bid to be the host.
“Any and all proposals are opened and reviewed by the board and employees with all the criteria being compared and analyzed,” Voeltz said. “We look at the facility itself, capacity of the grandstands, pit capacity, camping and motel room availability, experience of the promoter and their staff, cooperation of the community, history of events at the speedway and even sponsorships offered the speedway.
“After reviewing the proposals, the board then votes on what they believe is the best proposal presented,” he said. “It is a pretty simple and straight-forward process.”
