WESSINGTON — Harold O. Nelson, 93, of Wessington, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller.
A memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Good Samaritan Center of Miller.
Harold O. Nelson was born in Dunn County, N.D., March 7, 1919, to Martin and Gertrude Dinehart Nelson Severson Liebnow.
He served in the Army during World War II as a cook and was discharged Sept. 15, 1945.
He married Mildred Knapp at Binford, N.D., Nov. 24, 1949. They moved to Southern California and Worked at Lockheed. In 1963 they moved to Westminster, Calif., where he worked at AMF Voit until he retired. In the early 1990s, he moved to Wessington.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Rhonda Lee (David) Byer; a grandson; a great-grandson; a brother, Doran (Loraine) Nelson of Clifton Park, N.Y.; a stepsister, Minnie Hein of Wolsey; a stepbrother, Roy (Kay) Severson of Mandan, N.D.; and two brothers-in-law, Donald (Jeanne) Knapp of Grand Forks, N.D., and Roy Clarke of Miller.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1982; an infant son, Richard; six brothers; nine sisters; and a brother-in-law, Richard Hein.
