HURON — Debra Dempsey, 60, of Huron, died of leukemia Tuesday at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
She will be cremated, and her memorial service will be held this summer at the Living Hope Alliance Church. Burial will be in the church section of the Ideal Cemetery.
Debra Dempsey was born on Feb. 7, 1953, in Huron, to Betty Rose Wipf and Cecil Bryant. She was later adopted by Denny Larsen of Wolsey, where she attended school.
She married Brad Norris in Huron. Later, she married Allen Bau. She then married William Dempsey. They owned their own business in California. She later worked in South Dakota as the kitchen manager at the Bunkhouse in Webster. She also worked with her sister in setting up Menards stores.
She enjoyed collecting antiques, shoes and purses. She also enjoyed gardening and watching movies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William Dempsey.
She is survived by her four children, Tammy (Brian) Rosemore of Huron, Chad (Hali Ruckdaschel) Norris of Watertown, A.J. Bau of Frankfort, and Bobbee Jo Moody of Huron; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Melinda (Gene) Rumpza of Wolsey, one brother, Bret (Alma) Larsen of California; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Daniel Schley of Huron.
