VANCOUVER, Wash. — Allen G. Krueger, 78, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Wolsey, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018.
His service was held Saturday, May 19, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Portland, Oregon.
Allen was born October 10, 1939, in Wolsey to Walter and Minnie Krueger. He grew up in Wolsey where he attended Wolsey High School, graduating in 1957. He was a star basketball player and for the first time in the school’s history, his team went to the South Dakota State Championship playoffs two years in a row.
He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Plate. She passed away after 52 years of marriage. They were blessed with three children, Jolene, Mark, and Karen; five grandchildren; and 13 great-granchildren.
The couple moved from Wolsey to San Jose, Calif. where he went to work right away for the same company his brother, Marvin worked for. He was employed there for 48 years, working his way up into an executive position.
He was united in marriage to Lori Draudson in 2011.
In later years, he acknowledged special events of those he knew in the area by e-mail or phone.
