 HURON — Alvin R. Arbeiter, 83, of Huron, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, surrounded by his loving family.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with his family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m.  
Alvin Ray Arbeiter was born September 19, 1935, at Huron to Jacob and Olga (Goossen) Arbeiter. He was raised on a farm northeast of Huron. He was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Harvey November 16, 1958. The couple farmed for close to 40 years, then moved to Huron. He then worked for the railroad for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; six children, Alan (Wanda) Arbeiter of Wessington, Ron (Kim) Arbeiter of Huron, Barb (Scott) DeSchepper of Huron, Eva (Jim) Pickinpaugh of Mitchell, Irvin (Jean) Arbeiter of Loomis and Terry (Jennifer) Arbeiter of San Antonio, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Susan (Jim) Montgomery of Roswell, N.M., Carol (Al) Lawson of Eagan, Minn., Verna (Jay) Erickson of Albany, Ore., and Grace (Victor) Vera of Veradale, Wash.
