Miller wins Big Dakota Conference tournament
FORT PIERRE - Miller went 4-0 at the Big Dakota Conference tournament to bring home the tournament title on Saturday.

The Rustlers opened by sweeping Todd County 25-9 and 25-9. Tyra Gates and Jaden Werdel each had three aces as the Rustlers recorded 13 aces as a team.

Miller then defeated Winner 25-21 and 25-21. Ally Mullany led the Rustler attack with eight kills while Gates had 19 assists.

The Rustlers defeated Stanley County 25-21 and 25-11 behind 24 assists from Gates and eight kills by Tricia Lammers.

Miller finished the day with a 25-18 and 25-19 victory over Mobridge. Jolie Palmer led the Rustler defense with nine digs while Gates added 23 assists and Mullaney had eight kills.

Palmer, Gates, and Mullaney each made the all-tournament team.

Miller takes an 11-1 record into a road matchup with Redfield Tuesday.

JVC sixth at Hamlin tourney
HAYTI - The James Valley Lady Vikings went 1-2 Saturday in the Hamlin volleyball tournament, taking sixth place.

The Lady Vikings opened with a 25-17 and 26-24 loss to Florence-Henry. Regan Rink had six kills and three aces. Jacey Wipf had 11 digs.

JVC fell 25-10 and 25-14 to host Hamlin in the second match. Rink led the Lady Vikings with three kills while Kaylie Robinson paced JVC with four assists.

The Lady Vikings defeated Sisseton, though set scores were unavailable. Lily Hofer was 12 of 12 from the service line with a pair of aces. Robinson had 11 assists and four kills.

JVC fell to Groton in the fifth place game 21-25, 25-15, and 25-13. Ashton Cronin was 12 of 13 with three aces. Rink had four kills, seven digs, and four blocks.

The Lady Vikings take a 4-7 record into a home matchup with De Smet Tuesday.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 3, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 1
FORESTBURG - The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks fell to the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Raiders Saturday in Forestburg 3-1.

Set scores for the Raiders were 25-12, 25-18, 22-25, and 25-17.

The Raiders moved to 6-4 behind Julia Trygstad’s 18 kills and seven blocks. Alivia Bickett had 11 kills for ORR and also served up five aces.

Kenna Ochsner led the Blackhawks, now 5-8, with 10 kills and a pair of blocks.

The Blackhawks will travel to Wolsey to face the Warbirds Tuesday.

Lake Preston Invitational Volleyball tournament
LAKE PRESTON - Iroquois/Lake Preston finished fourth and De Smet finished fifth in the Lake Preston Invitational volleyball tournament Saturday in Lake Preston.

The Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks opened with a victory over Waverly-South Shore 25-14 and 25-17. They fell to Sioux Valley in the semifinals and then lost to Flandreau 22-25, 25-18, and 25-17 in the third place game to finish fourth.

The De Smet Bulldogs dropped the first match to Flandreau 25-15, 20-25, and 25-19 then rebounded to defeat Waubay-Summit in the semifinals 25-18 and 25-21. De Smet beat Estelline/Hendricks 25-22, 17-25, and 25-20 to earn fifth place.

No individual statistics were available.

The Sharks will take a 2-8 record on the road to Hitchcock Tuesday to face Hitchcock-Tulare in a 281 Conference matchup.
De Smet will bring a 7-7 record to James Valley Christian Tuesday.
