Beadle reports just three negative tests

HURON — In a weekend that saw very little reporting from Beadle County, the COVID-19 active cases in the county went up by one from Friday, increasing from 21 to 22 over the weekend with one total positive.
Changes in test numbers over the last week wreaked havoc with the county totals over the week as the overall totals say that just 26 tests were performed, with five positives in Beadle County over the last week. However, on July 27, the state made a numerical adjustment due to double counting in the previous week, adjusting the county’s numbers by reducing the negative tests in the county by 23 in that one day. Beyond that one day reducing overall numbers, the total of 49 tests would still be the lowest submitted since the large surge in the county began in mid-May.
The state did have a notably busy weekend with new positive cases, reporting nearly 200 new positive cases statewide. The active cases in the state rose from 874 on Friday to 911 after Sunday’s numbers due to the high amount of positive cases across the state.
The Heartland region did see multiple new positive cases as both Jerauld County and Spink County each reported a new positive case. Jerauld reported its first new positive case since early June. Spink made mid-June with just five cases, but the county has added one to two cases per week every week since, and Sunday’s new positive case was the county’s 20th total.
