HURON — Beverly Frankenstein, 76, of Huron and formerly of Howard, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 6, at the Living Hope Alliance Church in Huron. Burial will be in the Prairie Bible Church Cemetery at rural Carpenter. Visitation with her family present will be from 4 to 7: p.m. Friday evening at the Kuhler Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Beverly Lilas Hofer was born May 31, 1943, at the family farm near Hitchcock to John J.K. and Sarah (Tschetter) Hofer, the youngest of 14 children. She came to faith in Christ as a young girl when she attended revival meetings at Byron Bible Camp. On Sept. 11, 1960, she was baptized at Prairie Bible Church, formerly known as the Hutterthal Mennonite Church. Beverly graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1961. She later received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Huron College.
Beverly met Gary Frankenstein in college, and they were married on August 13, 1964, at the Hutterthal Mennonite Church. The couple resided in Huron, Alpena, and Canova. In 1971, they relocated to Howard where they lived for 34 years. A son, Brad, and three daughters, Valerie, Krista, and Kelli, completed their family.
Upon retirement in 2006, Gary and Beverly, moved to Huron.
Beverly began her career as a kindergarten teacher at Howard Elementary School. She continued in her career as a first and second grade teacher in later years.  In 2006, Beverly was honored for her 34 years of teaching, with a surprise celebration including a scrapbook filled with memories and pictures from her very first kindergarten class. The impact she had on her students was evident and lasting.
Beverly’s priorities were serving her Lord, family and others.  She enjoyed hosting people in her home whether for a Sunday dinner or a New Year’s Eve party.  Gary and Beverly cherished annual summer vacations to northern Minnesota with their children as well as Carribean cruises with family. They enjoyed southern gospel music and attended several Gaither Vocal Band concerts.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gary; a daughter, Valerie (Ken) Baker of Forest City, Iowa along with their children, McKenzie (Caleb) Janson, Jericho, and Kennedy; a son Brad (Christin) Frankenstein of Edina, Minn., along with their children, Sofia and Will; a daughter, Krista (Ryan) Beauchamp of Watertown, along with their children, Kelsey, Caden, Katelyn; a daughter, Kelli (Jeremy) Patrick of Sartell, Minn., along with their children, Reed and Micah. In addition to her family listed above, Beverly is also survived by three brothers and their wives, Herbert and Dee Ann Hofer of Huron, Eldon and Alie Hofer of Hitchcock and Allen and Ella Mae Hofer of Sioux Falls; one sister and her husband, Edna and Solomon Tschetter of Huron; three sisters-in-law, Josephine Hofer of Huron, Marilyn Hofer of Huron and Dorothy Walters of Warsaw, Ind.; one brother-in-law, Marc Frankenstein of Lake City and 47 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, John, Joseph, Melvin and Leon Hofer; and five sisters, Alma Hofer, Anna Wyld, Rosie Hofer, Dorothy Wipf and Kathryn Fast.
