Blackhawks earn win against Hanson

WOONSOCKET — The Sanborn Central-Woonsocket Blackhawks boys’ basketball team dominated the Hanson Beavers and tallied 20 points in the last period to pull away for 58-40 win for the Blackhawks, Tuesday night at Woonsocket.
Noah Dickson totaled 25 points to tower over the other competitors and led the rebounders with 13 for the Blackhawks, while Trey Ulmer followed with 10 more for the team. Sanborn Central-Woonsocket now improve to an 8-4 season record.
The Beavers suffered their second loss of the season to fall to a 10-2 record, and were led by Hayden Bahmuller with 10 points.
Sanborn Central-Woonsocket will host the Ethan Rustlers on Monday at Forestburg, while Hanson travels to Emery on Friday.

Andes Central-Dakota Christian 64, Wessington Springs 48
WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Andes Central-Dakota Christian Thunder came back from a three point disadvantage at the end of the first period to take a 64-48 win over hosting team, the Wessington Springs Spartans, in Class “B” boys’ basketball action on Tuesday night.
Daarom Tronvold totaled 28 of 64 points for the Thunder, Cliff Johnson scored 15 points, while Jaeson Garcia added another 12 for the team. Andes Central-Dakota Christian improved to a 5-6 season record with the win.
The Spartans, now dropped to 2-10 on the season, were led by Jacob Messmer with 16 points, who also led the rebounders with nine. Cooper Hainy tallied 12 points for Wessington Springs, while 11 more were added by Mason Schelske.
Wessington Springs will travel to Wolsey to take on the Warbirds this Saturday, while Andes Central-Dakota Christian will host Bon Homme at Lake Andes on Thursday.

Clark-Willow Lake 72, Great Plains Lutheran 20
WATERTOWN — Clark-Willow Lake remained unbeaten with a 72-20 victory against winless Great Plains Lutheran on Monday.
Stone Burke had 19 points to lead four players in double figures for the Cyclones, who are now 9-0. Micah Burke had 14 points, while Jacob Prouty had 13 points and Tyler O’Neill had 10 points.
Micha Burke snagged seven rebounds to help Clark-Willow Lake to a 27-16 advantage on the boards. Prouty tallied nine assists and had three steals. Also recording three steals were Stone Burke and Tyler O’Neill.
Sam Hansen had five points and three boards to share the rebounding honors for Great Plains Lutheran with Joe Tisher.
Clark-Willow Lake will host Groton Area in Clark on Friday and then face Tea Area in Madison on Saturday as part of the NEC/DAK-12 Clash.

ESTELLINE — The Estelline-Hendricks Redhawks led at all the quarter stops Monday night, and defeated the Iroquois Chiefs 54-41 in boys’ basketball action. Iroquois falls to 4-6 with the loss, while the Redhawks improve to 3-8.
Zachary Loomis and Marcis Hausman each scored 13 points to lead a quartet of E-H players in double figures. Harrison Wegner added 12 points, while Riley Benning chipped in 10 and also led the Redhawks with eight rebounds.
Keistan Dubro scored 12 points and had 14 rebounds to pace the Chiefs. Shawn Diehl also scored 12 points for Iroquois.
The Chiefs host Highmore-Harrold on Friday.

WOONSOCKET — The Sanborn Central-Woonsocket Blackhawks dug themselves an early hole and couldn’t recover Tuesday night, as they dropped a 53-40 decision to the Hanson Beaverettes in non-conference girls’ basketball action.
Megan Guericke scored a game-high 15 points to lead Hanson, now 6-5, to the win. Mekiah Campbell added 12 and had eight boards, while Morgan Huber chipped in 11 points for the Beaverettes.
Trinity Boschee came off the Blackhawks’ bench to lead the scoring with 10 points in the game. Kaylee White, Tesa Jensen and Abby Vermeulen each scored six points and Vermeulen had a game-high nine rebounds. SC-W falls to 8-4 with the loss.
The Blackhawks are on the road Thursday, at Wessington Springs.

MILLER — The Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds swept the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders, 60-30, during a class “B” girls’ basketball game on Tuesday at Miller.
An improved record of 7-4 on the season is now held by the Lady Warbirds, after putting twice as many points on the board for the victory. Wolsey-Wessington was led by Lizzi Brandt with 19 points, while Chantel Haider totaled 10 more for the team.
The Crusaders were led by Lindsey Wilken with 16 points and eight rebounds. Sunshine Bible Academy fell to a 3-9 season record after the loss.
