Papillion, Neb. — Charles W. Teply, 95, of Papillion, Neb. and formerly of Wolsey, passed away Thursday April 18, 2019, at his home.
There will be a visitation today from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with family present at the Kuhler Funeral Home. A memorial service with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens will be held at a later date.
Charles William Teply was born April 6, 1924, to Josehpine (Hermanek) and William Teply on a farm near Geddes. He attended country school near Geddes until the family moved to Wolsey in 1936. He attended school and graduated from Wolsey High School in 1943. During high school, Charles worked at a gas station. He was then employed on a farm, for a railroad, a grain elevator, and drove a taxi (between Wolsey and Huron for 25 cents). He worked at Hanskutt Lumber, then bought and operated the business before closing it in 1985.
Charles and Helen Rahder were married at the Huron Presbyterian Church on July 12, 1947. They made their home in Wolsey. Three children were born to them. His family brought great joy to him.
Charles was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He helped to organize the Wolsey Rural Fire Department, serving as a volunteer for many years. He was a Wolsey School Board member for nine years, and a member of the Wolsey Town Council for 40 years.
Charles and Helen resided in Wolsey until 2009, when they relocated to Neb. to be near family.
Survivors are his wife, Helen; daughter, Charleen (Larry) Anderson of Omaha, Neb.; son, William Teply of Bismarck, N.D.; grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Teply of Woodbury, Tenn., Nathan (Janet) Teply of Madison of Ala., Kyle (Karen) Anderson, La Vista, Neb., Angela (Adam) Olson of Bismarck, N.D., Josie (Ben) Fiebelkorn of Sioux Falls, and Jacob (Sabrina) Teply of Huntsville, Ala.; stepgrandson, Ryan (Michelle) Fettig of Bismarck, N.D.; great-grandchildren, Saul, Olivia, and Luke Teply, Gage and Scarlett Teply, Lexi and Maci Anderson, Cora and Hallie Fiebelkorn; stepgreat-grandchildren, Ethan and Alexa Fettig, Nick, Evan, Grant and Julia Manhart; a niece; a nephew; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jack (1997); daughter-in-law, Shirley (2006); and brother, Elmer (1970).
