HURON — The Beadle County Commission heard plans from Veterans Service Officer Taylor Jans regarding Veteran’s Administration (VA) tele-health programs throughout the state and the opportunity to host one in Beadle County.
The commission approved use of space in the county courthouse for the service, which will allow VA patients to meet with doctors through video appointments. State VA representatives hope to have the Beadle County location operational in January of 2020.
County commissioners also heard from Beadle County Highway Superintendent Merl Hanson. He presented grant applications, utility certificates, and right-of-way certificates for two bridge projects, discussed gravel needs and bids, and received approval for purchase of an iPad and a service plan for the device to be used in field work.
Beadle County Sheriff Doug Solem presented the commission with the resignation of jailor Rick Kuestermeyer, effective July 2020. Future hiring plans were discussed but not formalized at this time.
