SIOUX FALLS — Dwayne E. Wipf, 74, of Sioux Falls, died from Parkinson’s Disease on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Centerville Care and Rehab Center in Centerville.


A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 31, at Prairie Bible Church in Carpenter. Dwayne’s request was that memorials be directed to James Valley Christian School.   


Dwayne Elmer Wipf was born August 29, 1947, in Huron, the son of Elmer Eli and Dorothy Janice (Hofer) Wipf. He grew up on the family farm in the Carpenter area and attended Milford country school. Upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ, he was baptized August 6, 1967, by the Rev. Paul Goossen at the Hutterthal Mennonite Church. Dwayne moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where he worked at the Chow Mein Noodle Factory for two years. In 1971, he moved to Sioux Falls and he began working at the EROS Data Center in May of 1972 and retired in 2009 after 37 years with EROS.


Dwayne sustained an injury to his left arm when he was very young causing a disability he would live with for the rest of his life. Dwayne showed great determination and courage as he never let his disability stop him. Those who knew him were amazed at his ability to accomplish any task he set out to do.


Dwayne is survived by seven brothers and three sisters, Norman (Gerry) Wipf of Huron, Janelle (Bob) Butler of Huron, Allen (Delane) Wipf of McKinney, Texas, Merlin (Judy) Wipf of Huron, Harlin Wipf of Huron, Connie Simmons of Hot Springs, Mark (Melanie) Wipf of Huron, Cindy (Paul) Andreas of Tenstrike, Minn., Philip (Rochelle) Wipf of Wessington Springs, and Jim (Gayla) Wipf of Chancellor; 30 nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives.


He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant twin brother and sister, Laverne and Lavonne Wipf.
