Eighth-grade volleyball rolls on

HURON — Huron’s eighth-grade volleyball team stayed undefeated Saturday, moving to 8-0 on the season with a 25-8, 25-16 drubbing of the Pierre Governors at Huron Middle School gymnasium.

Hylton Heinz and Jencie Goergen each notched four aces, while Taryn Cass and Jeselyn Matthews recorded three each, as Huron had a solid match from behind the service line. Chloe Carr had four kills, Goergen added three, while Aly Davis and Ava Ulvestad each had two. Hailey Rogers had one kill and one ace in the match.

Huron is back in action on Thursday at Brookings.

Seventh grade drops a pair
HURON — Huron’s seventh-grade volleyball teams lost a pair of close matches to Pierre on Saturday.
In the “A” match, Pierre recorded a 2-0 win, with set scores of 25-18 and 25-20. Huron was led by Isabelle Kremer’s five kills, while Camdyn Fuchs had three aces, Olivia Purinton and Kremer each had two aces, and Jaelee Olson had an ace and two kills.

The “B” match went three sets with the Governors coming out on top, with scores of 25-20, 25-27 and 15-10.

Huron had two aces by Jeriann Ferfen, while Allyra Kerlin, Lilliana Miller, Kylie Munce and Kinzey Stiefel had one ace each.

The seventh graders also travel to Brookings on Thursday.
