Fawcett, Jaqua win title at SDGA 2-woman tourney

BROOKINGS — Marie Fawcett and Jan Jaqua of Huron combined to win the overall low net senior championship during the South Dakota Golf Association’s 31st Annual State 2-Woman Golf Tourney, which was held Saturday and Sunday at Brookings Country Club.
A total of 47 teams participated in the event, which featured a best ball format on the opening day and a modified Champman format during the final day of competition.
Fawcett and Jaqua shot a 59 during the opening round on Saturday and then carded a 63 on Sunday for a net score of 122 to claim the title.
The duo had a gross score of 172 with rounds of 81 and 91 to finish second in the third flight of the senior division.

Several other local golfers also earned placings in their respective flights.
Mary Klozenbucher and Dawn McInroy used rounds of 79 and 88 to finish at 167, which placed them second in the second flight of the senior division. Lois Quam and Marilyn Skyberg were fifth in the flight with rounds of 80 and 92 for a 172 total.
Lisa Boomsma and Deb Boomsma teamd to finish seventh in the first flight of the senior division. They had rounds of 82 and 81 for a 163 total.
