HURON — Who couldn’t use a little more color in his or her life?
When Karlie Valer considered the idea, she recognized a spot to add some color to Huron.
“Many people forget that the building juts out right here,” Valer pointed out. “It makes a perfect spot for a little color.”
As Valer worked in the shade Wednesday afternoon, images of monarch butterflies, daisies, sunflowers, and pasques were sketched onto the portion of wall just east of Rainbow Flower Shop on 3rd Street Southwest, awaiting her final touch.
“My mom (Katie Scheibe) is one of the owners of Hair & Beyond next door, and Cara (Green-Osier), the owner of Rainbow has always been a good family friend,” explained Valer.
“I thought the color of the state flower (pasque), the daisies, the sunflowers, and the butterflies would make a good mix!”
Valer intends to work with scaffolding to complete the top of her mural and intends to be done by Friday.
“It will be great to see the colors of the flowers all year long!”
