Francom earns second-straight weekly honor


SIOUX FALLS - South Dakota State University’s Trent Francom picked up his second Summit League Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honors in as many weeks, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

This week, Francom shares the honor with USD’s Ethan Bray after their pole vault performances at Saturday’s USD Early Bird.

Francom and Bray earned co-field athlete of the week accolades after both vaulted an outdoor best height of 18-5 (5.61m) at the USD Early Bird meet. Their height leads the league and ties for sixth overall in the nation. SDSU’s school record holder, Saturday’s mark set the Huron, S.D. native nearly two feet ahead of the next best mark on SDSU’s all-time list.

This is Francom’s second-ever Athlete of the Week honor.

The Jacks return to the Lillibridge Track Complex in Vermillion for the USD Challenge Saturday as well as the Joe Walker Invite at Ole Miss.
