Hanson 51, Dell Rapids St. Mary 38
HURON – The Hanson Beaverette girls stifled the Dell Rapids St. Mary Lady Cardinals in the first half and then held on for a 51-38 victory Thursday night in Region 4B action at the Huron Arena.

Annalyse Weber paced the Beaverettes with 21 points, including 13 of 17 from the free throw line on the night as Hanson moves to 17-3 on the year. Mekiah Campbell scored 16 points for Hanson and nabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Lady Cardinals finish the year at 15-7. Ella Heinitz and Addyson Gilbert scored nine points apiece to pace Dell Rapids St. Mary. Heinitz led the team with six rebounds.

Hanson moves on to the SoDak 16 next week.

MDISON — The De Smet Lady Bulldogs punched their ticket for the Class “B” SoDak 16 Thursday night, as they ended the season of the Arlington Cardinals 37-29 in one of the Region 3B semifinal games.

Kennadi Buchholz scored 16 points and hauled down 22 rebounds to pace the Lady Bulldogs to the win, while Emma Albrecht added nine for De Smet.

Harley Johnson notched 18 points to lead the Cardinals, who see their season end with a record of 11-12. Hadley Carlson and Addalyn Stefeensen each had six boards.

Both teams had nine field goals in the game and the Cardinals hit four three-pointers to only two for the Lady Bulldogs. But De Smet held a 10-point advantage at the charity stripe, making the difference in the win.

For De Smet, the Lady Bulldogs will move on to face a yet-to-be determined opponent in the SoDak 16 on March 4, with the site to be determined.

MADISON – The Castlewood Warriors looked every bit the undefeated team Thursday night, earning their way into the SoDak 16 with a sound 73-40 victory over the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings in Madison in Region 3B action.

Castlewood moves to 19-0 on the season with the victory behind a game-high 26 points from Alayna Benike. Mackenzie Iverson added 13 points and Darah DeKam pitched in 10 points for the Warriors.

Maddie Horn led Castlewood with nine rebounds off the bench.

Karilyn Wieting paced James Valley with 24 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Vikings finish the season with a 13-8 record.

REDFIELD – The Redfield Pheasants girls moved into the SoDak 16 with a victory over the Milbank Bulldogs Thursday night in Redfield by a score of 59-24.

The Pheasants were led by Addison Rozell with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Chelsea Smith added 13 points and Faith Jandel 11 points for Redfield, who moves to 16-6 on the year.

The Bulldogs finish the year 7-15. Isabella Anderson led Milbank with 11 points.

HIGHMORE — The Faulkton Area Trojans pulled away at the free throw line in the final quarter Thursday night, to seal a 52-45 win over the Highmore-Harrold Pirates in a semifinal game in the Region 2B girls’ basketball tournament.

Faulkton, now 16-5, led by two points after three quarters, but outscored the Pirates 16-11 on the final stanza to punch their ticket to next week’s SoDak 16 playoff game.

The Pirates had no answer for the one-two inside punch of Peyton Melius and Isabel Aesoph Thursday night. Aesoph scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds, while Melius went for 15 and 16 in the win.

Highmore-Harrold, which saw a promising season end with a record of 15-6, was led by Letha Jessen’s 18 points and eight rebounds, while Courtney Moser added 11 points. Haley Husted claimed nine boards for the Pirates.

HURON – The Ethan Rustlers survived a strong fourth quarter from the Colman-Egan Hawks to advance to the SoDak 16 with a 48-43 victory in Region 4B action Thursday at the Huron Arena.

Cameryn Logan led the way for Ethan with 16 points and 13 rebounds as the Rustlers move to 19-3 on the year. Ava Lingemann added 13 points.

Braiden Westley scored a game-high 19 points in the loss for the Hawks. Josie Mousel dropped in 15 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for Colman Egan, who finishes the year 13-9.

Redfield 55, Tiospa Zina 24
REDFIELD — The Redfield Pheasants moved into the semi finals of the Region 3A girls’ basketball tournament Tuesday night, with a 55-24 shellacking of the Tiospa Zina Wambdi.

Addison Rozell scored 18 points and matched that number in rebounds to pace the Pheasants, now 15-6, to the win, including her 700th career rebound for Redfield. Alison Larson added 10 points, while Camryn Rohlfs and Faith Jandel each chipped in eight points.

For the Wambdi, who draw the curtain on a 1-17 season, Maria Gallardo was the lone double figure scorer with 11 points.

Redfield, seeded second in Region 3A, will host sixth-seeded Milbank tonight, after Milbank’s 46-43 upset of No. 3 Groton Area.
