HURON — Two of the four members of the National Junior High Finals Rodeo small fore 22 caliber rifle division  are Huron students Kayeleigh Bowden, who finished first in the state this year, and Tori Buffington, who finished third in the state competition. The shooting sports competition was held in Rapid City in May, during the South Dakota Junior High School Finals Rodeo, in cold and wet conditions.
Kayeleigh recently completed the seventh grade at HMS and Tori finished eighth grade at Huron Middle School this spring. This is the two girls’ first year of competition in Junior High Rodeos. They have also competed in goat tying, breakaway roping, barrel racing and pole bending.
The shooting sports portion of the National Junior High School Finals Rodeo will take place at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, at the Huron Metallic Silhouette Gun range during the NJHFR held in Huron June 23-29. There will be teams from across the United States, Australia, Mexico and Canada competing.  Kayeleigh and Tori are  looking forward to the the National Junior High Finals Rodeo competition and meeting other competitors  from many states and countries.
