The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) board of directors recently voted to match employee contributions to donate a combined total of $20,632 to the 2022 United Way Heartland Region (UWHR) campaign.
“As your community hospital, we consider the agencies the United Way supports to be excellent organizations and look forward to partnering with the United Way each year in this important campaign,” said Erick Larson, president and CEO for HRMC.
“I am proud of our employees who continue to contribute each year and grateful for our board of directors who match those contributions.”
HRMC employees were invited to contribute during the hospital’s benefit fair in November and an employee-led committee hosted root beer floats and door prize drawings to encourage contributions. Pledges were collected through the month of November and with the board contribution of $12,000, the UWHR received nearly $21,000.
“The past couple of years have been pretty tough for our partner agencies. In a time of increased need, these agencies look to the United Way in order to meet their annual budgets, and to help as many people in our region as possible,” said UWHR executive director Jen Bragg.
“We at the United Way would not be able to continue our work and the work of these important programs without the continued generosity of HRMC and their employees.”
This year’s UWHR campaign goal is $280,000 and funds will help to continue the work of 36 different programs in the Heartland Region. In addition, the UWHR supports 13 community impact programs and projects, including the Heartland Region Backpack Program, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Student United Way-Huron Youth Leadership Program, the Delta Dental Bus, Day of Caring, Hunger Games, MENtors Volunteer Program, Homes for the Holiday Bed Giveaway, and Born Learning Trails in our community.
“Supporting the United Way means supporting these programs in the region, and we are so thankful for HRMC’s dedication to our community,” said Bragg. There is still time to donate to this year’s campaign. Interested donors can contact the United Way office at 605-352-3537 or email uwhuronsd@gmail.com.
