HURON — The team from Ellwein Distributing posted the low score in the 19th annual Humanitarian Golf Tournament, presented by the Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation, which was held Sept. 8.
The team, which included Jeff Houge, Kent Speirs, Garet Speirs and Oscar Luque posted a 61 in the event, to edge the Prostrollo Motor Sales team of Doug Chilson, Steve Olsen, Terry Mason and Sam Friesen by two strokes.
More than $30,000 was raised to help support the activities of the HRMC Foundation through the support of 25 teams and more than 100 sponsors. The Humanitarian Golf Tournament is one of two major fundraising events that benefit the Foundation - and ultimately the health of Huron.
Funds from the tournament are combined with other donations to the HRMC Foundation to help local students pursuing degrees in critical medical fields receive scholarships in exchange for their commitment to return to Huron and serve the community they love. It also assists men and women to become more aware of their health through vital screenings they otherwise may not have been able to afford, and assures that patients of HRMC receive the highest quality medical care supported by the best technology.
