HURON – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its June Exceptional Employee of the Month, Debbie Cutshaw, RN, with a reception on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.
Cutshaw, who has worked as a nurse at HRMC nearly 10 years, and currently works as a cardiac rehabilitation nurse in the rehabilitation services department, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Patients are Debbie’s main focus –  her mission is teaching them about their diseases and how to live a healthy lifestyle, while helping them strive to complete their goals
“She is an advocate for her patients by helping obtain special services and following up with their physicians if they have concerns,” the nomination continued. “Debbie has a positive and upbeat personality and will to go the extra mile for her patients.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.

As June exceptional employee, Cutshaw received a reception with family, friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
She graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Cutshaw has worked as a nurse for 23 years at various hospitals and clinics in Lincoln, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa. Prior to joining HRMC, Cutshaw worked at Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls.
She and her husband, James Cutshaw who serves as the principal at Wolsey-Wessington school, have lived in Huron for nearly 10 years. They have three children: James, Jr., a senior; Jordyn, a freshman and Cameron, a 6th grader, at Wolsey-Wessington.  In her spare time, Cutshaw keeps busy with her children’s activities. She also enjoys opportunities for spiritual development through church, Bible studies and mission opportunities.
Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 353-6539 for a nomination form or via e-mail at hr@huronregional.org.
