Huber second for Cyclones in Class A high jump

SPEARFISH — Freshman Tyson Huber came up just short of claiming a state title for Clark/Willow Lake on Friday during the opening day of the Class A State Track Meet.

Huber cleared 6 feet, 1 inch to take second in the boys’ high jump.

Senior Derek Eidsness of West Central used a leap of 6-3 to win the Class A high jump title.

Camryn Rohls of Redfield secured an eighth-place finish in the girls’ 100-meter dash finals. After running a time of 13.22 seconds in the prelims, she posted a 13.35 effort in the finals.

Noah Johnson of Miller was 12th in the boys’ discus at 120-8, while teammate Pierce Baumberger was 12th in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:44.80.

Morgan Kolda of Miller was 20th in the girls’ triple jump with a distance of 31-3.

After seven events, Milbank led the Class A girls’ standings with 24 points, while Parker was just three points back in second. Madison was third at 19, followed by West Central at 18, and Custer at 16.

Sioux Falls Christian had 47.66 points to lead the Class A boys’ standings after seven events. Dakota Valley was second at 25, followed by Custer at 22, Belle Fourche at 16.16 and Winner at 16.

Clark/Willow Lake was sixth at 14.

The Class A State Meet continues today at 9 a.m. MT, in Spearfish.
