Huron competes in 2021 AA track meet

STURGIS — The Huron boys’ 800-meter relay team challenged for a placing during the Class AA State Meet on Friday.

Making up the 800 relay team for the Tigers were Quinston Luellman, Max Kranzler, Tyson Lien and Jayden Beck. They turned in a time of 1:32.15 to finish 10th in the 18-team field.

Lexy Gilbert was 12th for Huron in the girls’ 100 prelims with a time of 12.95 seconds.

The Tigers were also 12th in the girls’ 800 relay with a time of 1:51.54. Making up the team were Brynn Gose, Emily Dale, Hamtyn Heinz and Zaniyah Lanier.

Huron finished 13th in the boys’ 3,200 relay with a time of 9:13.41. The team members were Cheech Harman, Will Radke, TJ Lien and Cade McNeil.

Luellman was 20th for the Tigers in the boys’ 100 prelims at 11.43, while Beck was 23rd at 11.55.
Huron’s girls’ 3,200 relay team, which is made up of Alexis Feenstra, Tori Buffington, Josie Vlieger and Reese Rozell, was 16th at 10:52.90.

Tanner Maron was 20th for the Tigers in the boys’ discus with a mark of 122-2.

After the first nine events, Sioux Falls Lincoln led the girls’ team standings with 66 points, while Brandon Valley was second at 57. Rounding out the top five were O’Gorman at 54, Rapid City Stevens at 40 and Brookings at 26.

After seven events, Sioux Falls Lincoln led the boys’ standings with 40 points, while Sioux Falls Roosevelt had 39.50 points. Rapid City Sevens was third at 27, followed by Aberdeen Central at 21 and Yankton at 20.

The Class AA State Meet will continue today in Sturgis at 9 a.m. MT.
