Huron girls split pair of games against Watertown

WATERTOWN — The Watertown Lady Lakers emerged with a 3-1 victory against the Huron Lady All-Stars on Friday at Maas Ice Arena.
With a pair of goals just 10 seconds apart by Jaclyn Lloyd in the opening period, Watertown was able to take a 2-0 lead. Taylor Espland had the assist on the first goal with the second being unassisted.
The Lady All-Stars were able to cut their deficit in half with the lone goal in the second period. Ashley Busch scored on a pass from Kylee Small.
The Lady Lakers were able to pad their lead in the final period with an unassisted goal by Kendra Kranz during a short-handed situation.
Sydnie Young stopped 22 of the 23 shots she faced in the net for Watertown to claim the win.

Alissa Ferguson tallied 37 saves as the goalie for the Lady All-Stars.
The Huron girls’ varsity will host Oahe at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bergman Arena.

U14 girls
WATERTOWN — With four goals in the opening period and five goals in the third period, the Huron U14 girls’ team routed Watertown 9-1 on Friday.
Alexis Rashaad finished with four goals to earn the hat trick for the Lady All-Stars. Kylee Small had a pair of goals, while Izabel Casper, Alexis Priest and Devin Hunter all had a goal each.
Small recorded three assists for a playmaker award, while Casper and Hunter each had an assist.
Marrissa Ready faced just five shots in the goal for Huron and stopped four of them. The Lady All-Stars had 29 shots on goal.
The Huron U14 team, which is now 6-0, will return to action on Jan. 11 at Brookings.
