Huskies third in Class B tourney

The Bridgewater-Emery Huskies overcame a first-quarter deficit and powered their way to a 65-54 win over the Viborg-Hurley Cougars in the third place game of the State Class “B” boys basketball tournament Saturday night.
Jamin Arend scored 20 points, Carter Dye scored 19 and Sawyer Schultz scored 12 and had 15 rebounds for the Huskies, who end the year with a mark of 21-5.
For Viborg/Hurley, Chase Mason scored 20 points and Gradee Sherman scored 12 and had nine rebounds. The Cougars end the season 22-4.

Consolation championship

White River 74, Sully Buttes 68
The top-seeded White River Tigers salvaged fifth place at the State Class “B” boys’ state basketball tournament Saturday afternoon, outlasting the Sully Buttes Chargers 74-68.
White River, which ends the season 22-3, with 28 points and five rebounds from Nick Iyotte.  Teron Sazue added 15 and Luke Wells chipped in 13.
For Sully Buttes, Cameron Ogle scored 20 points and claimed 15 rebounds. Jett Lamb scored 18 and Nick Wittler chipped in 11 points. The Chargers close the book on a 20-5 season.

Jones County 60, Timber Lake 49
The Jones County Coyotes salvaged seventh place at the State Class “B” boys’ basketball tournament Saturday afternoon, with a 60-49 win over the Timber Lake Panthers.
The Coyotes jumped out to a double-digit lead after one quarter, then held off a Timber Lake rally to close the season 20-5. Alec Whitney scored 17 points and hauled down 11 rebounds - both game-high totals - for Jones County. Austin Olson added 16 and Morgan Feddersen chipped in 14 for the Coyotes.
Timber Lake, which came in seeded No. 2 in the tournament, got 16 points and seven boards from Tucker Kraft, while Brayden PayPay added 13 and Isaac Craft chipped in 10.
