MILLER — Ida Moser, 87, of Miller, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, Miller, with Pastor Teresa Whetsel officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery, rural Wessington. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. this evening at the Reck Funeral Home, Miller.  
Ida Marion was born to Calvin and Blanche (Porter) Palmer on February 14, 1934, at home in south Hand County. She lived all of her life in Hand County and attended Miller grade school and high school. She met Robert (Bud) Moser and they were married on June 14, 1952, to this union five children were born.  
Ida worked many odd jobs over the course of her life, including raising five children when Bud was out of town as a heavy equipment operator in his early years. She was a cook at the Ree Heights grade school, a babysitter in Miller, cooked at the Hand County Hospital and then went on to own and operate the Ponderosa Supper Club in Polo for many years. It was more of a community center, and she became known for her salad bar and famous potato salad.
She enjoyed fishing and loved taking her kids with and teaching them how to take care of wild game for the family to enjoy and eat. She loved playing cards, dancing, going to the casino, and traveling with Bud. They would take off in a station wagon for the river with their kids for the weekend or take off in their motor home with friends and relatives on many wonderful adventures.  
Upon retirement, she moved back to Miller. She worked at the Manor, daycare, and finally Helping Hands, which she enjoyed very much.
Due to many health issues, she moved to Huron and lived with her daughter until her death. She always maintained a sense of humor and was often known for her commonsense advice.
Ida was survived by her daughter, Deborah Venjohn, Huron; four sons: Henry (Deb), Canton, Bob (Lynette), Rapid City, Vince (Lona), Huron, and Michael “Mick”, Gillette, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Evelyn Moser, Elaine (Daryl) Peterman, Sherry (Larry) Van Zee, Erma Woodruff; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bud”; son-in-law, Patrick Venjohn; seven sisters: Una, Margaret, Stella, Dorothy, Hazel, Ella and Merly; brother, Calvin “Bud”, all of Robert’s brothers: Clarence, LeRoy, Richard, and Eldon; brother-in-law, James Purrington; and sisters-in-law: Ardessa and Norma Moser.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Ida’s arrangements.
