WESSINGTON — Jean Clarke, 81, of Wessington, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 6, at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington. Private burial will be in Wessington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday  all at the church in Wessington.
Jean Ellen Hawley was born January 24, 1936, in Bonilla to Harry and Grace (Bussell) Hawley. She graduated from Wolsey High School. She was united in marriage to Donald Clarke March 6, 1955. They farmed and lived in the Wessington area. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary, and the First Presbyterian Church. She was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Twins and rarely missed a game on television.  
She is survived by her children, Kent (Tami) Clarke of Wessington, Karen (Cliff) Lockner of Watertown, and Kevin (Julie) Clarke of Wessington; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ray (Honey) Hawley of San Diego Calif., Jake (Ann) of Fort Myers, Fla.;L; Beth Miller of Chandler, Ariz., and Joyce (Jerald) Zerfoss of Wessington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; sisters, Shirley Tritthart, and Carol Smith.
