HURON — Lawrence “Larry” R. Ames, 69, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at his home after a two-year long battle with cancer.
Visitation, with his family present, will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. A Rosary service will begin at 6 p.m. led by the Knights of Columbus.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Huron. Military Honors will be provided by Huron Veteran’s Council.The funeral mass will be livestreamed on Welter Funeral Home Facebook Page.
Lawrence Robert Ames was born October 29, 1951, in Huron to Earl and Agnes (O’Connor) Ames.
He married Carolyn Kerr in Huron Sept. 28, 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Robert (Tina) Ames, Barb Ames (Frederick Ray, Jr.), Rachel Ames and Dale (Rachel Marshall) Ames; 12 grandchildren; and sister, Mary Deuchar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Joe Ames and Marlene (Wayne) Waldron.
