To the Editor:

After reading the letter about dogs in the Letter to the Editor, I felt compelled to write about dogs as well. I’ve been putting this off for awhile, because of other more important issues, so here goes.

I thank everyone who responded June 30 to my pitbull attack. Thank you very much for your quick response, animal control, the Huron Police Dept., the ambulance crew who took great care of me and transported me to the ER at HRMC. Thanks to Kent and Sharon for wrapping my hand in a towel until help arrived, too. The staff in the ER did a great job as well, as did the doctor who stitched me up. I was deeply saddened to find out that animal control and the police had no choice but to put the dog down to protect others, as well as for their own safety. You couldn’t pay me enough to be in animal control or a police officer today.

I love dogs, but the problem with them is that they love you unconditionally for as long as they live, and then they go and die on you eventually.

This particular incident could have been prevented. Always make sure your doors are securely shut and locked so your pets cannot get out.

This changes the subject, but I have found out recently in my years on this earth is that people, places and things cannot truly make you happy in life. It may work for awhile, but the one person who can truly make you happy all the days of your life on this earth who who will never leave you, nor forsake you, is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God’s love and blessing.
