To the Editor:

Dear people of the great state of South Dakota

I am a third-grade student at the Langley School in northern Virginia. Our class is learning about the United States and I will be teaching our school about South Dakota. In May, I will create a display for our State Fair that I hope will make you proud.

Although I gathered facts about South Dakota from books and the internet, I think I will receive the best information from the people who live there, which is why I am writing to you. I hope you are willing to send me information to help me learn more about the best things in your state; things like post cards, pictures, souvenirs or any other unique item that is useful to show your state pride.

Here are a few questions as well:
• Why do you live in S.D. and what first brought your family there?
• What do you do for a living?

• What does your state look like?
• What animals live there?
• What traditional food or recipes does your state have?
• What type of music is native to your state?
• Do you have a state athletic team?
• What geographic features are unique to your state?

I ask to have any information sent to me by the second week in May, to the address below.

Thank you.
