To The Editor:

In July, I wrote suggesting expectations for our gubernatorial candidates. I’ve written two updates since then. Here’s the latest.

(Hope) The candidate will swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

(Reality) Recent investigation and exposes’ found one candidate stretching the truth on the difficulties experienced early in life, blaming the government and claiming to have been a home health nurse.

There’s been one retraction thus far for a slew of falsehoods.

(Hope) The candidate will commit to serving a 4 year term.

(Reality) Nope. One candidate is using our state to further national political aspirations and will not commit.

(Hope) if elected the candidate will avoid familial conflicts in employment.

(Reality) The Ethics Committee cited a candidate for Malfeasance in Office. The candidate refused to defend in open hearing. A secret punishment was levied but we aren’t allowed to know what it is.

Misuse of state plane is still ongoing and some question a $600,000 virus grant to a family farm.

(Hope) If elected the candidate would utilize education professionals to handle their own affairs and let them write their own curriculum.

(Reality) After $494,000 in taxpayer money these new curriculums, written by Hillsdale College, are in open hearings.

Sentiment is running 86% opposed to the suggested curriculum.

(Hope) If elected the candidate would pledge that government will not interfere with any medical discussions or resultant medical procedures. This will remain between patient and provider.

(Reality) One candidate supports a total abortion ban regardless of rape, incest and health of the mother.

We are fortunate in District 22 to have two younger legislators that are reasonable and honest public servants.

Veterans should wonder if these people have their best interests at heart.
