PIERRE — A pair of local school board vice presidents have been appointed and elected to the Associated School Board of South Dakota (ASBSD) board of directors.
Garret Bischoff, the vice president of the Huron School District board of directors was appointed as an At-Large representative for the ASBSD’s Northeast Region, while Woonsocket School Board vice-president Lisa Snedeker was elected to the board, as the representative for the ASBSD’s Southeastern Region for member districts in the 265-and-under enrollment category.

Bischoff is entering his sixth year on the Huron School Board, including three years as vice president. A farmer and rancher, Bischoff has represented the board at the ASBSD delegate assembly each year he has been on the board.
“Garret’s been a fixture at ASBSD events since joining his local board and is well versed in statewide public education issues,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “He’s a committed school board member and his perspective on public education will be a welcome addition to the state board.”
Snedeker’s four-year term began this month as the ASBSD Board of Directors met for its August meeting prior to the ASBSD-SASD Convention. She has served four years on the Woonsocket School Board, including one as Board Chair and two as Vice Chair. She has served as her local board’s ASBSD Delegate and Legislative Action Network member. Snedeker is a Branch Manager and Training Coordinator for Dakotaland Federal Credit Union.
“Lisa’s been a familiar face at ASBSD events since joining her local board and is well versed in public education issues,” Pogany said. “Her knowledge of and passion for public education will be a welcome addition to the state board.”
