DE SMET — Mary Ellen Louise Farrell, 69, of De Smet, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Avera in De Smet.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 17, at the American Lutheran Church in De Smet. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service to follow.
Mary Ellen was born August 7, 1949, at Aberdeen to Leo and Evelyn (Kurtz) Norton. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. She moved to De Smet in 1991, and worked at the Good Samaritan Center, Oxbow, and the Kingsbury County Country Club.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Farrell of De Smet; children, Ron (Amy) Pasch of Cottage Grove, Minn., Tamora German of Dunedin, Fla.,Tanya Groft of Fargo, N.D., Becky (Brook) Stephens of Redfield, RaeLynn Amundson of De Smet, and Roberta Elkins (Al Johnson) of De Smet; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her best friend, Kelly McCune; siblings, May Meidinger, Betty (Phil) Kidder, Delbert (Sharon) Norton, Howard (Carla) Norton, Peggy Arthurs; and sister-in-law, Delila Norton.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leland Norton; sister-in-law, Sharon; and brother-in-law, Russell; and a very special friend, Opal Schwartz.
