HURON — Norman “Nem” Matson, 96, of Huron and a former Arlington-Oldham resident, passed away, Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Sunquest Nursing Home in Huron.
Norman was born April 14, 1922, to Peter and Hannah (Hansen) Matson in Kingsbury Co. He attended school in Oldham and graduated from Oldham High School in 1942.
He married Avis D. Lilly on October 15, 1960, in Sioux Falls. He is survived by two sons, Mark of Virginia and Noel (Denise) Matson of Huron; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Bjorkman of Madison.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Hannah; his wife, Avis; sister, Ydun; and four brothers, Enoch, Herman, Arild and Lonny.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Oldham Lutheran Church in Oldham. Burial will be in the Oldham Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday in the church and one hour before services in the church on Saturday. The Johnson-Henry Funeral Home is in charge of services.
