Rescued baby calf wins annual photo contest

Winners have been announced for the annual South Dakota Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers photo contest.
“Telling Your Ag Story” was the theme for the annual photo contest, which awards cash prizes to winners and the opportunity for winning photos to be published in Tri-State Livestock News Ag Pride Edition, as well as utilized in South Dakota Farm Bureau promotional material.

Winners in each category include:

• Over 35 and Overall Champion - Robin Reinhold, Sturgis, for her photo titled “A Warm Heart.”
• 18-35 winner - Rachel Osvog, Ree Heights, for her photo titled “It Takes a Team.”

• Under 18 winner - Kiersten Reinhold, Sturgisfor her photo titled “Milking the Cow.”
The overall champion photo for the third annual contest depicts a baby calf that found a sheltered place to weather out a winter storm.
“After we found the calf in the cold weather, our daughter Molly carried him to the shop where he spent some time in front of the wood burning stove,” said Robin Reinhold. “After it perked up, we took him out to find his mama.”
South Dakota Farm Bureau is a grassroots membership organization that has been representing farm, ranch and rural families in South Dakota for 100 years. SDFB is made up of over 16,000 members across the state.
