HURON — Longtime Huron resident Sarah Rogers has officially filed her petition and will be on the ballot for Huron City Commission in the April 13 election.

Rogers has served Huron as a law enforcement officer with the Huron Police Department since 2007. She has served in the capacity of School Resource Officer, Code Enforcement Officer, Public Information Officer and is currently a Detective Sergeant in Investigations.

Within the department, Rogers organizes “Shop with a Cop,” is the director of the Crime Free Housing Division, and is the domestic violence coordinator.

As a community member, she has held positions on the board of the Beadle County Humane Society and Jan Manolis Family Safe Center.

Rogers said she is proud to be part of this caring, diverse, ever-changing community but her greatest pride is in the role she has as wife and mother.

“I believe keeping this city safe and making sure people have a voice are a couple of the ways to keep this community strong for our children and generations to come.”
