HITCHCOCK — Ronald James Walter, 74, of Hitchcock, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center in Aberdeen.


His funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 1, at the United Methodist Church at Hitchcock, with military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, at the Kuhler Funeral Home.


Ronald James was born Sept. 1, 1945, to William P. Walter and Lena Ruby (Tschetter) Walter Hoelzel Hansen. He was drafted and began his service with the United States Army on October 19, 1965.


He married Shirley Paye on Dec. 11, 1973.


Survivors include his daughter, Tasma Paye-Wilke “Taz” (Patrick Wilke); three grandchildren; brother, Lynn (Alice) Walter;  brother, Darwin Walter; His ex-wife, Shirley (Paye Walter) Evans.


He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-father, Carl Hoelzel.
