Ronald D. Wipf was born on November 7, 1951 in Huron, to David J. and Marie O. (Hofer) Wipf. He attended and graduated from Huron High School and was a member of the 1969 State Champion Football team. Ron worked for the Armour Company for 11 years until its closing in 1983, when he took on his new role as “Mr. Mom” and stayed at home to help raise his four children. Ron also owned his own business, Ron’s Yard Service and appreciatively served his customers for nearly 30 years.
Ron married Eva Beyer on December 22, 1979, at the American Lutheran Church in Huron. During their 37 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children and eight grandchildren. Ron and Eva enjoyed traveling together to visit their family and took trips around the U.S. as well as to Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Ron was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Huron.  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, watching NASCAR, and playing board games with family and friends. Ron also spent many summer days with his family at their cabin on Lake Byron. Ron loved spending time and making memories with his family and close friends. One cherished tradition was making eggrolls and Ron was the expert eggroll fryer. Ron’s family was the most important thing to him and his most enjoyable times were the times he spent attending the activities of his children and grandchildren. Ron will be remembered by all who knew him for his warm smile, friendly personality, and caring heart.
Grateful for having shared in Ron’s life are his wife, Eva of Huron; his four children, Michelle (Aaron) Gilbert of Hitchcock,  Melanie Wipf of Johannesburg, South Africa, Megan (David) Moeding of Sioux Falls, and Jordan Wipf of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Logan, Zachary, Isabel, Max, Gabriella, and Isaac Gilbert, and Madelynn and Wilson Moeding; four sisters, Annette (Steve) Wilson of Hiawatha, Kan., Bonnie (Errol) Walter of Huron,  Diana (Gary) Hanson of South Dakota, and Renae (Terry) Young of Sidney, Mont.; uncle, Eldon Hofer; aunts, Donna Hofer of Huron, Josephine Hofer of Brookings, and Vilene Wipf of Minneapolis, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas Wipf; and several aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Ron’s name to the family.
