Scott Slepikas of Huron was awarded the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association’s (SDCA) 2022 Cattlemen of the Year award at the annual Convention and Trade Show held in December.

Slepikas is very active in the SDCA, as well as his local affiliate, Central Cattlemen’s Association, and as a master of the grill. Slepikas coordinates and grills steak sandwiches on behalf of Central Cattlemen’s and SDCA at local events, but particularly takes on the challenge of serving up beef to attendees of Dakota Fest and the South Dakota State Fair.

“Scott is more than deserving of the Cattlemen of the Year,” said Eric Jennings, President of SDCA. “His dedication to the SDCA, as well as his leadership with the Central Cattlemen’s Association, doesn’t go unnoticed. We’re thankful for Scott and his contribution and leadership to the organization.”

Slepikas is also very active in the Huron community. Slepikas has served multiple leadership positions from the church council to the township board, as well as a 4-H leader and county 4-H achievement days judge and has been named by the Huron Chamber of Commerce as Outstanding Farmer of the Year.

The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association is a grassroots policy organization representing cattle producers across South Dakota who have an interest in promoting the beef industry and protecting the interest of cattlemen.
