State clears 1,500 active COVID cases added in November

HURON — As numbers have increased throughout the month of November statewide, the state hit a threshold of adding 1,500 active COVID-19 cases to the tally over the month in Tuesday’s report from the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH).

The state added 931 new positive cases, nine new deaths, and 837 new recovered cases in Tuesday’s DOH report.

Active cases in the state climbed to 6,950, which is an increase of 1,529 over the active virus cases in the state as the month began.

Beadle County added 11 new positive cases and nine new recovered cases in Tuesday’s report. Active cases in Beadle slightly increased to 98. The county has now gone more than 45 days since the last DOH reporting day that showed zero new positive cases in the county, which last occurred on Oct. 7.

The Heartland Region added 22 new positive cases, one new death, and 20 new recovered cases across the seven counties in the region. Active cases in the region were up to 193 in Tuesday’s report.

The new death reported in the Heartland was noted in Spink County. The death is the 124th COVID-related death in the region and the 28th such death in Spink.
