Tiger eighth grade volleyball stays unbeaten

PIERRE — The Huron eighth-grade A-team used set wins of 25-16 and 25-21 for a sweep against Pierre on Monday. The victory boosted the Tigers to 10-0.

Jencie Goergen and Aly Davis each had four kills for Huron. Goergen was 14 of 14 attacking and Davis was 11 of 16.

Hylton Heinz had three kills on 7 of 7 attacks, while Chloe Carr added three kills on 6 of 9 hits and Ava Ulvestad had a pair of kills.

Hailey Rogers was 11 of 11 serving with three aces for the Tigers, while Hienz also had three aces on 7 of 9 serves. Carr and Davis each had two aces.

Heinz tallied a team-high eight assists, while Goergen had five assists and Carr had two blocks.

Huron also won the B-match with set scores of 25-22 and 25-12.

Goergen had four kills on 4 of 5 attacks, while Heinz, Carr and Rogers all had three kills.

Ulvestad record six aces on 13 of 13 serving for the Tigers, while Heinz had three aces and Goergen and Adisyn Zavesky each had two aces.

The Huron B-team is now 6-4.

The Tigers will close the season with a home match against Watertown at 4 p.m. Thursday at the middle school gym.
