HURON — The Huron girls’ tennis team opened its season with a triangular against Aberdeen Roncalli and Mitchell on Tuesday at Huron Courts.
Aberdeen Roncalli emerged with an 8-1 victory against the Tigers.
“We played well in this first match. We had some close singles and doubles matches,” Huron coach Rachel Kary said.
Kayla Harvey had the lone victory for Huron with a 10-5 decision at No. 1 singles. She also teamed with Audrey Rubish in No. 1 doubles to nearly pull off another win, but the pair came up just short with a 10-7 setback.
Mitchell recorded a shutout against the Tigers in the second match of the day, winning 9-0.
“Again, played some good tennis,” Kary said. “We gained some good experience in our first matches of the season and are looking forward to Friday.”
Huron will host Harrisburg at 10 a.m. Friday at Huron Courts.
