Truckers Final Mile returns for Wheel Jam

Posted

A fundraiser founded on serving the trucking industry is back in Wheel Jam for the fourth time.

Truckersfinalmile.org is a 503c organization which has the mission to reunite truck drivers and their families in times of crisis.

Any child 18 or older who has lost a truck driver parent on the road can receive assistance from truckersfinalmile.org.

Robert Palm formed the non-profit in 2014, and has expanded its service to include helping with expenses with the loss of life or severe injury of a trucker on the road; orchestrating a holiday gift collection for children of truckers, and provides mobility assistance for truckers who have been injured, along with offering grief counseling for family members.

“I’ve been driving a truck for 41 years,” said Palm about the non-profit charity that he started – truckersfinalmile.org.

“I have experience in the industry and this came to me after I had rescued a woman from a tanker truck. As she was being taken away from the wreckage, the Lord spoke to me and I listened when I was told that there was more that I could be doing. That is my testimony.”

“That’s how we began,” Palm said. “On May 1, 2014.”

Palm said in the 10 years that Truckers Final Mile has been around, more than 450 families have received assistance of some sort, “and that includes 45 just in the past year,” he said.

“You know, Wheel Jam has always been free and open to the public,” said organizer and originator Scot Marone of this weekend’s festivities. “But if I could urge people to step up and offer assistance to someone, it would be to make a donation to Robert Palm and the work he is doing through Trucker’s Final Mile.”
