Vendors of the Day

On the left, the DK Soap and Design Studio booth is set up in the Family Living Center for it’s sixth year at the South Dakota State Fair, but this year the business has expanded and added a new level of products.
Owners Jeremy and wife Rachel Uttecht, have focused their booth on the 70 different types of handmade soaps, plus bath and body care products that are made by Rachel.
Jeremy specializes in many graphic design based products, such as art prints, hats, mugs, t-shirts and much more. So the couple decided instead to double in size with space and unique handmade items for fairgoers to enjoy.
The most popular items that DK Soap and Design Studio sell are the handmade bars of soap, in a variety of scents and colors, plus the original t-shirts designed by Jeremy.

Jeremy originally is from Huron, while Rachel is originally from Sioux Falls, and the couple owns a store for their business in Jewell, Iowa, but make sure to travel back each year for the fair.

On the right, The Food Vendor of the Day for Thursday at the S.D. State Fair is Kristi’s Concessions, which is owned by Kristi Neuharth, Wolsey.
Tell us about your specialty: “ My specialty is our Walking Tacos. My Walking Tacos are not your ordinary dish, as I use my own special, secret taco meat recipe.” Each Walking Taco is made individually after the customer orders it.
Any other items? “We serve nachos three ways - Regular (chips and cheese) Super (Includes the special taco meat) or Deluxe (which includes the meat, lettuce, salsa and sour cream). We also serve BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs and pretzels.” Neuharth also owns and operates a second site, “Taffy Shack,” which offers many different flavors of gourmet saltwater taffy.

Where are you located? The Walking Taco stand is located on the Independent Midway, adjacent to the Food Court. Taffy Shack is also on the Independent Midway, further north and closer to the grandstand.
When did you begin your business? “I began in 1999 and my first event was the Meadowwood Fair in Huron. This is the 20th Year I have done the S.D. State Fair.”
