Wolsey-Wessington volleyball defeats Miller

WOLSEY — Mya Boomsma amassed 23 kills on 58 of 67 attacks to help fourth-ranked Wolsey-Wessington to a 3-1 win over Miller on Monday. The set scores were 25-13, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-18.

Leah Williams was 36 of 40 hitting with 10 kills and had three aces on 22 of 24 serving for the Lady Warbirds, who improved to 22-3. Lainey Uttecht was 18 of 18 serving, while Alyssa Hiles was 15 of 16 with an ace.

Macie Luce finished with 14 assists on 43 of 47 setting for Wolsey-Wessington, while Hailey Clarke was 45 of 46 with 10 assists. Uttecht had a team-high 35 digs, while Boomsma and Williams finished with 22 and 19 digs, respectively. Luce had three blocks and Giyahna Richmond had two blocks.

Ally Mullaney and Jaden Werdel had nine and eight kills, respectively, to lead Miller. Abbi Blake had five kills and three aces, while Tyra Gates had 28 assists and an ace.

Werdel recorded 22 digs for the Rustlers, while Gates had 17 and Cynthia Ford had 12. Mullaney also had three blocks.
